Deaths resulting from the use of torture

ARREGI IZAGIRRE, 30, died in his home in March 1982 after being held incommunicado over 10 days in policy custody. The autopsy showed signs of torture.
ESTEBAN
MURUETAGOIENA SCOLA, 38, died in his home in March 1982 after being held incommunicado over 10 days in policy custody. The autopsy showed signs of torture.
MIKEL
ZABALZA GARATE, 32, his body was discovered in the river Bidasoa in December 1995. He was found handcuffed. He had been arrested by the Guardia Civil in November 1994. The police claimed that Zabalza had escaped. Witnesses assured that they saw Zabalza laid out on a stretcher in police custody and that he seemed to weak to be able to escape.
GURUTZE
IANTZI IGERATEGI, 31, died in September 1993 in the central Headquarters of the Guardia Civil in Madrid, where she had been held incommunicado. The authorities claimed that she died of a heart attack. The people that were arrested with her made complaints of torture.
XABIER
KALPARSORO GOLMAIO, 26, died in September 1993 from injuries received when he fell from a window on the third floor of a the Central Headquarters of the Spanish police. This police force alleged that he tried to escape while he was being interrogated. According to his own account, sent to the organisation ETA before his death, he had been kidnapped for a month, and didn't know who had kidnapped him, although he did identify them as being police.
